Lathcoats Farm - Gallery

Fashion doesn't occupy our thoughts too much here at

Lathcoats except, perhaps, when deciding which colour

boiler suits to buy. However last Spring the magazine

of the Independant newspaper asked if they could use

our orchards and strawberry fields for a photoshoot.

You can see some of the results below:

netting the cherries

Putting the net over the cherry orchard is a vital job

done every May to keep the pigeons , starlings and blackbirds

from stripping the crop. The picture above shows the net

going on on 11th May 2009.

tree planting

In the spring of 2009 we planted over 4000 new apple trees.

The varieties planted were cox and gala and are to replace

older orchards that are coming to the end of their lives.

new born baby goat

One of our goats produced  a beautiful pair of baby billies on 17th June 2008. Here they are less than 24 hours old. Named Merry and Pippin after a customer's suggestion, they have since moved on to a new home.

swallows in nest

The swallows from our nest-cam nest have already fledged but other nests around the farmyard are still full (to bursting in this case!) This nest is in a popular location for our swallows - under the canopies above the cold store doors. This was taken on 17th June
