As a family we have been growing English apples at Lathcoats Farm
in Essex for more than 80 years. Lawrence Taylor came to Lathcoats
in the early 1900's. Later his son Maurice took over. He opened
the Farm Shop in the sixties. Now the farm is run by Maurice's
sons, Stephen & Philip.
England's
climate provides gentle growing conditions which enhance the flavour
of our traditional varieties. Hotter climates and many modern
varieties produce high yields of uniform apples with very little
flavour.
At Lathcoats we grow varieties renowned for their flavour, on
trees managed for the best eating quality rather than yield. Our
modern fruit stores allow us to supply English Cox from October
to April in the best possible condition.
